| The
true and accurate lyrics to "Stayin' Alive" Perhaps you, like me, wish to know the
accurate lyrics to the 1977 Bee Gees hit single,
"Stayin' Alive." As reported on the Internet,
the lyrics describe shoes with "the wings of
heaven" on them (bad), the New York Times
as having "an effect on man" (worse), and
replace the song's diffident hedonist ending with
"Somebody help me, yeah" (worst). The band
Supple, helpfully, recorded a much slower and slightly more intelligible version for the 1997 movie Hurricane Streets.
Listening to it, you can discern how cool the real lyrics
are:
Well, you can tell by the way I
use my walk,
I'm a woman's man, no time to talk,
Music loud and women warm,
Been kicked around since I was born.
Now it's all right, it's OK,
And you may look the other way,
We can try to understand,
The New York Times are paid for, man.
Whether you're a brother,
Or whether you're a mother,
You're stayin' alive, stayin' alive.
Feel the city breaking,
And everybody shaking,
Stayin' alive, stayin' alive.
Ah, ha, ha, ha, stayin' alive, stayin' alive,
Ah, ha, ha, ha, stayin' alive.
Well now I get love and I get high,
And if I can't get it, I really try.
The repo man don't own my shoes
I'm a dancin' man and I just can't lose.
You know it's all right, it's OK,
We live to see another day,
We can try to understand,
The New York Times are paid for, man.
Whether you're a brother,
Or whether you're a mother,
You're stayin' alive, stayin' alive.
Feel the city breaking,
And everybody shaking,
Stayin' alive, stayin' alive.
Ah, ha, ha, ha, stayin' alive, stayin' alive,
Ah, ha, ha, ha, stayin' alive.
Life going nowhere,
Somebody help me,
Somebody help me care (I'm staying alive).
Life going nowhere,
Somebody help me,
Somebody help me care. |
